Ingredients
For the chocolate cake base:
1 cup (120 g) all-purpose flour
½ cup (50 g) cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
¾ cup (150 g) sugar
½ cup (120 ml) vegetable oil
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup (120 ml) buttermilk
½ cup (120 ml) hot coffee (or hot water)
For the whipped cream filling & frosting:
2 cups (480 ml) heavy whipping cream (cold)
½ cup (60 g) powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
For the cherry filling:
1 jar (about 350 g) pitted cherries (fresh or canned)
2 tbsp cherry syrup (from jar or fresh cherry juice)
1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (optional, for thickening)
For garnish:
Dark chocolate shavings
Whole cherries
Chocolate syrup
