Ingredients:
For the Dumplings:
2 cups self-rising flour
¼ cup shortening or lard
¾ cup boiling water
Directions:
Make the Dough:
Place the self-rising flour in a large mixing bowl. Using a pastry blender or a fork, cut in the shortening or lard until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Slowly add the boiling water, a little at a time, stirring until the dough comes together and can be shaped into a ball.
For Flat Dumplings:
Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the dough to about ⅛ inch thickness.
Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the dough into strips, then into squares. Set aside.
