Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a rectangular baking dish (9×13 inch) or line it with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In another bowl, combine the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla.
Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir just until combined. Do not overmix — the batter should be slightly lumpy.
Step 2: Bake the Donut Bars
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow the donut slab to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before glazing.
Make the Maple Glaze
In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk or cream, maple extract, and salt until smooth.
The glaze should be thick but pourable. If too thick, add a splash of milk. If too thin, add a bit more powdered sugar.
Once the donut bars are completely cool, pour or spread the glaze evenly over the top.
Cutting and Serving
Once the glaze is set (about 15–20 minutes), cut the slab into bars — about 3×1 inches each, or whatever size suits your sweet tooth.
Serve fresh for breakfast, brunch, dessert, or even a late-night indulgence.
